J. MELLA

Allison
J. Mella is an associate attorney with Costa Abrams & Coate LLP
practicing entertainment law including the areas of independent film
production, talent representation, talent agency disputes, multimedia law,
and general counsel services.
Ms.
Mella’s clients
include television and film actors, writers, producers, directors, and
production companies. She has
negotiated matters involving Paramount Television’s “Entertainment
Tonight” and “The Insider”, and MTV’s dating show “Next!”.
She recently assisted a private stock images company in a $70
million acquisition by a public company for Costa Abrams & Coate LLP.
Recent
speaking engagements include “How To Start and Build an Entertainment
Law Practice” in April 2005, and panel moderator for “From Idea to
Distribution in 90 Minutes: True
Stories From the Hollywood Trenches” in Park City, Utah during the 2005
Sundance Film Festival .
Ms.
Mella is currently an active member of the organizations Women in Film,
Film Independent (f/k/a IFP), and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
The State Bar of California appointed
Ms. Mella to the Board of Governors for the California Young Lawyers
Association in 2004. In 2003,
the
Beverly Hills Bar Association honored Ms. Mella with the
Barrister of the Year “Lawrence J. Blake” Award.
Ms. Mella currently serves on the Barrister Board of Governors for
the Beverly Hills Bar Association where she is the Chair of the Workshops
Committee. She is also a former Executive Officer and former chair of
both the
Networking Committee and the Colleagues Program.
Ms.
Mella received a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude with Distinction, in
psychology from Boston University, and a Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from
Pepperdine University School of Law.
